brototype · footjob v2 (MIDI · CC)

hidden behaviour (firmware footjob_v2)

page and shift

• Page advances on press, instantly. No hold trick (unlike v1). Pages wrap 3 → 0 and each sends a Program Change 0–3.
• Shift is its own button and sends no CC. It sends SysEx F0 7D 01 01 F7 on press and F0 7D 01 00 F7 on release, so a DAW's MIDI-learn can't grab it. To see it here, the browser needs SysEx permission.
• Pixel: page colour, pale while shift is held, gold for 100 ms on each A/B press.
• A press locks in its CC. If shift or page changes mid-hold, the release still sends value 0 on the original CC, so nothing sticks on.

state

• Unplugging resets to page 0 (white), and on boot it announces Program Change 0 so the host resyncs. Nothing is saved, and there's no reset combo: a replug is the reset.
• The pedal ignores MIDI sent to it. It reads and throws away everything so the host never stalls.
• The on-board led flashes once on shift press, page press and A/B press, but not on any release.

if the led won't stop blinking

• The firmware only ever flashes the on-board led once per event. It never loops.
• Slow pulse or breathing right after plugging in or resetting: that's the bootloader waiting for an upload. It runs about 8 s. If it never stops, no sketch is running: reflash with upload.sh.
• Rapid steady blinks with no button touched: a button is bouncing or shorted to GND. Watch the log above for repeated events from one button.
• The ESP8266 WiFi/OSC footjob (footjob/footjob.ino, not this pedal) blinks fast forever while it can't join its hard-coded network, and goes dark once it connects.
